Statement
Experiences
affect and reside in our bodies, seeping
out through contact with other bodies
and objects and leave remnants of
us behind in furniture, clothing,
interior spaces, and other people.
I am interested in the trace of the
body, the evidence of interaction
and emotional entanglement, the physicality
of a memory. I am attempting to document
and re-create my own residues and
interactions, quieting the stories
to the point at which the specificity
of the experience is palpable but
indeterminable. I want my body to
be tangible but my voice to be inaudible.
The visibility of my hand, the exactness
of material, and the neurosis of the
craft are essential to the tactility
of the work and the promotion of physical
contact between the piece and the
viewer.
