Artist Statement
The work that I have been creating
over the last year stems from familiar
objects that exist in our monotonous
environment. Without hesitation we
function within a given set of perimeters
that stains our subconscious. Day
in and day out we interact with objects
of commonplace without recognizing
their inherent properties. Through
labor-intensive craft and store bought
materials my work illustrates simple,
but humorous and absurd anthropomorphic
relationships between these objects.
Whether it’s the playful destruction
of an object’s function or an
idea that changes the perception of
its environment, my drawings, photographs
and sculptures pose questions on our
relationship with them.
