Artist Statement
Currently I am exploring how an invisible
physical sensation is expressed and
made visible with the daily practice
of documenting the presence of numbness
throughout different parts of my body.
By abstracting, codifying, and systematizing
the work, I want to evoke a sense
of the passing of time, accumulation,
attentiveness, presence and absence,
control and loss of control, all in
connection to the body that goes beyond
a narrative of my individual experience,
in turn, creating tension between
the subjective and science and medicine’s
objectification of the body.
