Artist Statement
I make my paintings using readily available and recycled materials, such as discarded artwork, wrapping-paper, and photocopies. The work is not about an idea, but about what is directly in front of the viewer. I favor an aesthetic that reveals how the work is made and implies anyone can make art. The ephemeral materials stand out in the gallery setting, drawing attention to their commonness and physicality. They are part of the real world, existing and degrading in real time.
