Artist Statement
The main theme of my work is “invisible disabilities.”  An invisible disability is any disability that is labeled as a non-severe cognitive disability – plainly put, one that cannot be recognized by merely looking at a person. Often, we are taught to hide these disabilities because we can. We also hide these disabilities because they are seen as undesirable. This experience leads to feelings of deep shame. People often treat invisible disabilities as if they are somehow not real or as if they could be overcome by making a greater effort. The negative perceptions make it difficult to be visible as a person living with disability. Lives become unlivable as a result of being questioned and having to question one’s basic humanity in relation to the norms surrounding able/disabled.

What i know best is my own experience and to speak honestly about it i must speak in my own voice the body of work that i am currently creating is based on making the invisible visible to show the viewer what can not be seen the daily obstacles that i constantly face including everything from how i read and write to how i preceve space to how i navigate directionaly and incounter objects in motion and at rest as well as my preseption of the disconect between speaking and hearing and writing i use all materials avalible to me to create a broder represintation of disability i simply invite the viewer to catch a glimps of  the complexite and beautiy of living with disability
