Detail of Acculturation

Artist Statement
Everything is connected.
My daily path becomes a sculpture.
Each natural material is tied to an industrial material.
Each line is attached to its neighbor.
Each space turns into a joined familiar place.
My everyday adventures are a series of surprising events. Through my limited travel, I learned dwelling, thinking, and making. My work is a ladder between the relationship with the individual and others and interacting polarities. It is calmness and rooted craftsmanship in the complexity of the contemporary art world.
This project is about this shift from being an artist in a homogeneous society to one in a pluralistic city. I want to embrace my new culture and use unfamiliar materials. As I follow my daily path, I’m thinking and seeing, looking through San Francisco’s images.
I gather small branches to transform as a tool. Also, my collections of branches from the places I’ve been reflect my vivid memories as a solitary stroller in the city. Togetherness is better than being solitary. A small branch alone may not be perfect, but it can become perfect when combined with others.
