"Word. World.” takes a relationship between the writer, her words, and a community of writers and makes it a relationship between a writer, her words, and an audience. The writers and their writings are diverse and surprising; their delivery is lively, and the camaraderie among the writers infects the audience. The result is four superb readings.

Earning an MFA in Writing is not an ending; it is a beginning. For the last two years these women and men have focused on understanding their art and their own process as makers. These readings mark their steps over the threshold out into the world as writers.

The Writing Book 2009
The Writing Book contains selections from the writers’ theses: book-length groupings of poetry, prose, playwriting—or some other mixing of words in a genre not yet named. This year we are fortunate to have Stuart McKee, former chair of the MFA in Design at CCA and current Chair at USF, designing the book. Stuart is a well-known and successful book designer. We are honored to work with him.

Please join us in celebrating the launch of the Writing Book 2009 during the Opening Reception of this year’s MFA Exhibition.
