Thesis Abstract
As an educator, I am always exploring ways that design can influence the methodologies, tools, and experiences for students and teachers in traditional learning environments. At the same time, my work hopes to provoke conversations about the role of creativity, storytelling, and personal expression for learning. Math Propulsion is about teaching and learning math as beautiful and fun with embodied interactions that use personal poetics and tools for collaboration. The project investigates the ways math will reveal itself as artistic and creative through visual and kinesthetic tools. This model builds on constructivist approaches to explore and explain abstract models of quantities and shapes with more personality and fun.
