Artist Statement
I am interested in moments when our individual core is disrupted by the unexpected that life brings. My intent is to transcend the shifts and ruptures within moments of crisis and personal disruptions to highlight the fragility  of life. I am exploring the illusions of stability, both structurally and psychologically under the notion of the home as only an imagined retreat. Within this analysis I use painting to assist in creating various economies and forms of mediation within the materials that are used to construct buildings.  Every object is carefully placed and replaced within a constant state of arranging.  Their often-precarious positions of delicate balancing softly echo the illusion of life itself.  The false sense of safety is inserted within the instability the objects have when placed on top of one other.  There is an imbued tension that falters, where at any moment the string holding us all together, seemingly unbreakable, snaps and falls to ruins.  This ultimately leads to yet another cycle of inception with one more layer of history, thus creating a new moment.
